Music...Beth Hart.... rockin' the blues...

Beth Hart performs
Until recently, I was unaware of Beth Hart. I learned of her via Joe Bonamassa videos. I was impressed enough to add her to an article about Bonamassa. In researching her work I couldn't help but notice she had collaborated with Jeff Beck as well.

Beth with Jeff Beck Kennedy Center "rather go blind"

Well, if this gal can work with Jeff Beck and Joe Bonamassa, what the hell ? She must be the real deal. She may not be a household name or mainstream music industry but dammit, she's good.

                      "Going down" with Jeff Beck

The live performance video of she and Jeff Beck doing "going down" is not the best sound nor video work. But..I couldn't help but use it due to the energy. Of course, I am a huge Freddy King fan so....

                                "whole lotta love"

Who does she sound like ? No one person.  She's a combination of voices and on stage personalities.

"change is gonna come" with Joe Bonamassa

First impression is Etta James. Listen a little longer and Janis Joplin comes to mind. But neither of those power singers had the third element Beth brings to the stage.

"i'll take care of you" w/ Joe Bonamassa

Barry Gibbs ! Yup, she's got an unbelievable falsetto reverbing around in that voice. Listen you'll hear it. You can't come up with Beth Hart's sound by imitation. She was born with that voice and all that blues rocker talent. And lest we forget, she's got a boat load of "sex appeal" to top off the package.

"well, well, well" w/ Joe Bonamassa

The more you listen to Beth the more you understand her.

                             2009 full concert

I hope you have time to listen to a couple of her songs. Most of what I've chosen are "on stage" collaborations. All are covers of up tempo blues favorites.  As you will see, I've come the conclusion that Beth is at her best "rocking the blues".

Note:  I think this "rockin the blues" genre is rock and roll evolved to it's highest level so far. It's what Janis Joplin called the "full tilt boogie". You might be surprised I have chosen two women as leaders in what used to be considered an exclusively male world. I guess I'm a little shocked as well. But it is what is....

I hope you enjoy the music !

Life's purpose is not to arrive at the grave with the body in good shape. Hell no, you want your body worn slap out, skidding in sideways, eyes bloodshot, hair smoking and all the while hollering "Yee Haw !! ...  What a ride !!"
