Scrollers....Doosan...Coastal Crushed Concrete

During an assignment covering the Houston heavy equipment dealership, R. B. Everett, I needed an opportunity to show the client's Doosan equipment in the field. The Everett folks were kind enough to introduce me to one of their salesmen, Rick Vincent. After a great Houston bar-b-q lunch, we went to photograph some late model Doosan equipment at work.

Now this is the fun stuff folks. Going to the job sites is when the inner little kid in me gets to see big Tonka toys whipping round job sites. After a gillion or so of these assignments I've obtained a basic understanding of what they are doing but I still enjoy all the hustle and bustle.

The best gigs are the ones where I haven't a clue what is  happening. On those jobs I get to learn and experience something new. Needless to say I am a little bit of a pain with all my questions but I do try to make it fun for everybody.

Doosan Loader
This job site had a Doosan loader and excavator. The pictures explain what they are doing. The company was Coastal Crushed Concrete. They take asphalt and concrete and recycle it by crunching the big slabs into different sized "rocks" for reuse. Most of the pictures from the two locations show some stage of demolition, crushing or storage and yard activity.

The second location was a job site where the excavator was pounding holes in a concrete slab of what had been a huge warehouse. The hole pattern was to make it easier to break up the concrete then haul it back to the yard for processing.

One shooting note from this assignment. It was bitterly cold that morning. I don't know how to explain wet cold. It was 43 degrees with a slight mist in the air.

But that gulf wind was blowing with gusts to 25 or so. I know 43 is nothing. The following week I was in 5 below with 25 mph gusts but at least North Dakota even with snow was a dry cold. None of us were dressed for cold weather so the wet 43 with constant wind was just plain nasty.

Here are several yard activity shots which hopefully will tell the story of what these folks and machines do.
