Music...The First Rock and Roll Song ????

The History of Rock and Roll

This is the first in a new series for the "Boomer Magazine. Some of our readers say they are stuck in "boring" places on the weekends. Being alone and away from home, be it a war zone, man camp or distant hotel, is no fun. We decided to liven up the weekends by running a Saturday night series based on the history of "Rock and Roll". We will feature a different favorite artist each weekend. The key word here is "favorite". We lived it, we'll call it. Tune in the "Brand New Rock Opry" is coming your way 6 p.m. Saturday nights.

Here is the first edition. This article will give our readers some historical perspective. We published it a few months ago but felt it was perfect to kick off this series. I hope you enjoy the story and the series.

The First Rock and Roll Song ?

For a couple of years now I've wondered where the "Boomer" Generation's music started. I always assumed it started with Elvis and a promoter cat named Alan Freed.

While researching the history I learned I was mistaken. My research soon dug up a much older group of songs. It looks like "rock and roll" started with our parent's generation. Surprised ? See if you agree.

I am going to list some early "rock" candidates. You decide which song was "rock and roll's" starting point. Maybe you have another candidate or song. I am open to suggestion. Let's hear your ideas.

There is a comment  section at the end of the article. There are as many opinions as readers so have at it.
