Music...My Father's Music..1936..Bing Crosby, Tommy Dorsey and Robert Johnson

For the third installment of "Bubba's" music I have pulled three more famous artists from his senior year of high school. My Dad, loved music as did my mother. So I am honoring their music a little at a time.

For more background on the subject click on the red letter link.

Now here are the links to some great sounds. Funny how it works ! The older I get, the better that old stuff sounds.

Once again, since I really have no way of knowing which artists my Dad preferred, I am featuring the Top 10 record sellers of the year. It was his era and his music. I will honor it that way.

You know I can't think of Crosby without Bob Hope. I guess all those "road" movies have run them together in my head. He was big, really big. Radio, records, juke box, television and movies. Bing was on top in all categories. Wonderful entertainer and a smooth operator.

I'm not going to say my father was a Robert Johnson fan. I have no way of knowing what he thought of the man's music. But RJ had two big "colored" hits in 1936 and both have transcended the years. They were "Crossroads" and "Sweet Home Chicago".

I am a fan, yes. But with Bubba you never knew. He liked all kinds of music so I wouldn't put it past him to have been a blues guy along with all the other genre's back then. Just when we thought we had "good ole dad" figured out he would always surprise us. So that's the real reason I have to include all the top ten artists of 1936. Bub was all over the place with his music interests. It still shows today through my preferences.

Be ready to tap your foot when you listen to this man's music. It is absolutely infectious.
