I gave it up. The Rock History project was dead. Maybe it was too many links to artists sites. I don't know what killed the deal. It just quit allowing me to post properly.
Here are links to the several phases of the old "Rock History" Project. If you are willing to suffer the odd layout results you will find a literal vault of real rock and roll history. Warning ! You'll want your headphones....
Part One: The Rockers provides a record of big name groups during their break out year.
Part Two: The Stars is a list of those who were important artists just not in the rocker style.
Part Three: Connects us with the Roots of rock music.
Part Four: The great Musicians famous or not.
Part Five: The Future of Rock ?...your nominations are needed.
So here, a year later, is a work around of sorts. I will do this one a little differently. I will look over Billboard's Top 100 for the year in question. Then pick out the artists that have remained my favorites. I will link an information page and links to any video or audio performances I might find.
"Rock History" stopped on the year my favorite journalism professor, Bobby Joe Tucker says was the last good year of "rock and roll", 1964. He should know, his band, "Bill Black's Combo", opened for the Beatles first American tour in 64.
I will begin with 1965 and work my way toward the present.

Billboard 1965 Weekly Number 1's
Three groups really stood out for me. Here are links to those hit performances. I know, I know ! There were a lot hits by other big names. But this is a different format. This time I am choosing MY FAVORITE's.
I will be glad to hear your choices. Simply use the comment section. We'll have a nice chat.
